Boosting Beer Sales by Mapping the In-Store Journey

Rekhaprocity Labs partnered with a leading Czech beer company to uncover why beer sales were underperforming at a major hypermarket. Using RFID-enabled badges, we tracked 1,600 shoppers across thousands of in-store journeys. Combined with detailed entry/exit interviews and receipt analysis, we delivered powerful heat maps showing shopping behavior by demographics, mission, and basket size.

Key Insights:

  • Shoppers who paused in the beer aisle were more likely to shop adjacent promotional zones.

  • Beer purchases were closely tied to big-basket shopping.

  • These insights allowed for smarter in-store placement, cross-promotion opportunities, and collaborative category management with the retailer.

Impact: The brewer improved its retail position and deepened collaboration with the hypermarket. The retailer gained data-driven strategies to boost sales and optimize layout.
